1. Encourage students to dress in business attire
2. Encourage persons from both within and outside of the institution to observe the presentations
3. Inform students about the plan to have invited guests and explain the role of the invited guests
4. Discourage students from lining up for a presentation-instead encourage the introduction of each speaker
5. Encourage easy and natural transition from one speaker to another
6. Discourage reading directly from cue cards, and encourage eye contact at all times
7. Encourage students to use laser pointer (available in each classroom), and speak to the slide on the screen
8. Discourage overcrowding of information on slides- usually 7X7 format is acceptable
9. Encourage the use of appropriate graphics; tables, pictures, clip art, charts, videos and the like in the presentation
10. Encourage the use of effective hand-outs, and also methods of involving the audience with the hand-outs (e.g. fill in information on the hand-out).
11. Encourage students to use varied presentation modes; e.g. power point, white board, and also the involvement of audience in a single presentation
12. Encourage creativity for greater impact-try to involve all the senses-sight, sound, touch, smell and taste
13. Encourage students to assess the performance of fellow students-preferably in groups 14. Discourage students from completing their presentations when someone else is making a presentation
15. Encourage presentations from each member of the group; do not let one member dominate; ask team members to asses the contribution of each member to the final presentation (anonymously); ensure maximum participation from each member of each group
16. Ask questions that will assess if each team member is knowledgeable about the entire group presentation, not just the section he/she is presenting
17. Establish the criteria for assessing the presentation, and communicate these to students before the presentation
18. Provide balanced feedback- good points and bad points, and state clearly how the presentation could be improved
19. Establish the duration of the group presentation and subtract marks for exceeding the allotted time-appoint a time keeper
